Why You Should Visit Crete on Your Greek Villa Holiday!

I’m back! Fresh from my summer holiday and I couldn’t wait to tell you lovely people on the Internet all about it. Oh and I haven’t been Internet for around two weeks so this gives me a great reason to come online! I’ve got an old school friend who lives and works out in Kato Stalos, so that’s pretty much where I enjoyed most of my holiday. Kato Stalos is a modest village within Crete and is a great location to rest your mind, body and soul. I’ve stayed in areas such as Corfu, Athens and Kefalonia, but can honestly say that Crete is undeniably home to the most impressive views you could hope for. Everything from the striking views to the incredibly accommodating local people, every aspect of this holiday was enjoyable and memorable. The village is Platanias is close to Kato Stalos and travel between the two is easy via regular public transport. I hired a car for this holiday as my hotel was based in Chania. Though on the occasions that I did use public transport I found it reasonably priced. For example, it cost me and my friend 15 euros to travel from Platanias to Kato Stalos one night after we had a little too much to drink. I booked my hotel through Simpson travel who I booked with before, they offer other forms of villas in Greece. Chania’s coastline stretches for an eternity and it’s wonderfully maintained beaches are kept clean and secure by it’s equally efficient coastal staff.

If ever you get to visit the Agia Marina, I recommend you take a visit to the Cactus Restaurant or for those who want to enjoy a glass of wine or three, seek out the very best that the Tartufo restaurant in Platanias has to offer. Classy and elegant, this is the optimy of fine dining! If you’re more interested in getting as much tan-time as possible, I’d suggest hiring a car and making the short journey to either Elafonissi or Falasarna beach. Though they are both very popular tourist areas, I have never been to such unspoilt beaches anywhere else in the world. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a large or smaller budget as there are plenty of Crete hotels to consider, so I hope to see you out there soon. Thank you Crete!
