Tenerife Hotels: Discover the Best Beaches on the Island
Whether you’re a slave to your tan or you crave a relaxing read in the shade, everybody loves the beach and Tenerife hotels are some of the best for sandy action. There are plenty of other islands however, that promise sun, sand and relaxation if Tenerife doesn’t quite fit the bill.
Consider hotels around Los Cristianos on the south of the island, when looking at Tenerife hotels, for a buzzing atmosphere and reams of golden sand. One of the best of the gleaming-sand bunch is the Playa de las Vistas. A huge hit with both locals and tourists, this wide sweeping beach is packed with families basking in the sunshine.
Staying all day by the beach needn’t be action packed. There are lively bars and water sports offered at many beaches, however for those more interested in aesthetics than physical endeavours, there are some quieter beaches. Playa Grande, situated on the eastern coast of the island, is a short 30 minute drive from San Miguel de Abona. For creamy sands and a laid-back atmosphere, why not hire a car and venture out to Punta de Abona, sheltered from sea breezes by the protruding headline.
On the most southerly tip of Fuerteventura lies the resort of Jandia. The top Fuerteventura hotels are located here and it boasts perhaps the best beaches on the island. Windswept all year round, this coast boasts ideal conditions for windsurfing and kiteboarding. Head down to Rene Egli Center on the Playa de Sotavento, if you are new to these exhilarating sports.
In the island’s capital, Cala Jondal is just four miles from the Ibiza hotels. Exclusive, glitzy and oozing with jaw-dropping beauty, this beach is well known among the rich and famous of the world. Sip a cocktail at the climate-controlled bar surrounded by sweet-smelling pines and rugged red cliffs or relax on the golden sands at the south end of the beach.
