Perks In Using The Longboard Surf
To learn surfing with the use of longboard surf is a better way to learn how to surf. Although it’s possible to use the short board for learning surfing, it would demand a much longer time frame for you to learn it and also you would have to face such overwhelming frustration. Longboard surfs would allow you to learn the skill in an easy way in so many ways.
First reason is that longboards would let you commit more mistakes than the short boards. People who just started surfing do not yet have the conditioned shoulders to manage a shorter board. It takes time and practice to have the conditioned shoulders. However, paddling in a longboard surf will be a little challenging. But in totality, it is easier to use than the short board
Second, long boards are more stable when compared to a short board. You might find it difficult to maneuver during the first few times, but long board surf still has the stability you would need while still starting. That is especially true when doing the pop up and assuming the proper and various stances on the board. Longer boards will allow you to take more time while getting to your feet (although not too long) and will let you find a comfortable foot placement in a less stressful way as well than other shorter boards.
Third, these longboards will let you enjoy and make the most out of the small waves that you encounter during the first tries. The gentle beginner’s waves are good for longboard surf–beginners will often have small, clean and slow breaking waves in the beginning. Longboards are necessary for these conditions because they have the capacity to float well and the capacity to catch the small waves that small boards cannot have.
Fourth, longboards let you catch the waves that you want. Many first time surfers are often blinded with the coolness of the short boards since they usually are fashionable to look at. This is one of the most common mistakes done by most surfers that often leads to frustration in the water. Take note that surfing is about catching waves. If you are still in the first phase of learning, you have to focus first on how to ride a wave the right way. What you like is to experience riding a clean wave even if it is small. Once you are flawless in doing that, the fun you will get will motivate you to keep practicing. After enough time and practice, you can switch to smaller boards if you wish. But while you are still at the start of it, the longboard surf is all you need to have.
The paddle-friendly structure, stability and the small-wave catching capacity are the reasons why long boards are suitable for surfing neophytes. Practice and patience is all that you need and soon enough that short board you have been wanting is going to be yours.
