Late Holidays to the Surfing Capital of the UK
If you’re looking for late holidays, there are a few really good spots worth checking out, with Newquay being the most well-known place in Cornwall to go surfing. Relatively nearby are Lizard’s Point and Perranporth, so you could try out all three places in one trip if you wanted to maximize different surfing opportunities.
Consider stopping at Lizard’s Point if you fancy a bit of dolphin spotting while you wait for a wave. Giving ships warning of the dangerous coastline, the Lizard’s Lighthouse has been situated there since 1751. Covered with lots of little coves dotted around everywhere, the area can be very fun to explore. Consider Cornwall for your next trip, as there are many cheap holiday deals around.
If you want to test out the nearby Perranporth beach, then Truro is a lovely place to stay for surfing. Offering a pick up from the train station, wireless internet and flat screen TVs with DVD players, the Hundred House Hotel is hidden away in a lovely rural location. Close to Caerhays Castle and Porthluney Cove, holidays can also be spent at the Luggar Hotel, which offers spa facilities and breakfast in the morning. Perranporth beach is about 10 miles south of Newquay and tends to be less crowded than most beaches.
One of the most popular destinations is Newquay, not only for its surfing opportunities but for its manic nightlife. Open to people of all ages, from beginners to those training professionally for competitions, Errant Surf School is a good one to go to if you’re interested in taking lessons. You can have full or half day lessons, private tuition, as well as week-long courses. Kick back and relax at one of the many restaurants and bars, after a day of surfing.
